Training during the Covid-19 PandemicCOVID 19 Training Solutions

In light of the Covid-19 virus pandemic, Personal Care Consultants  had a number of training commissioners ask if there were alternative ways of delivering such training, avoiding or, at the very least, limiting face-to-face contact and therefore reducing the risk of spreading the virus. Furthermore we understood that in some areas of the healthcare, social care and special needs education sectors, there was an immediate need for you to get other staff and volunteers trained up quickly to help manage the growing need for replacement staff and additional staff as the virus progresses.

In particular, The delivery of mandatory manual handling training in a care or special educational needs setting is generally considered a ‘practical skills’ course. At least two-thirds of the course content are practical skills being demonstrated, then practised and finally assessed and documented by our trainers.

In order to meet your training requirements in those strange times, we suggested the following:

• Practical training was delivered a smaller number of delegates.  Depending of the venue, we suggested a maximum of 5 candidates and 1 trainer, reducing the number of candidates to as low as was reasonably practicable in accordance with current social distancing regulations.  Full PPE to be worn at all times.
• Theory training was delivered remotely via Zoom/Skype/Video conferencing – this was to a larger number of candidates
• Personal Care Consultants created a resource library that could be accessed via our website
• We offered telephone/video support for any candidates who hae specific queries around the moving and handling of an individual/use of equipment
